In their talk, the artists will be presenting their latest projects including performative installation Alfred Palestra, complex exhibition consisting of installation and video entitled The Blue Room, and the street performance The Curfew. The last of these projects was performed in 2017 in the streets of Budapest for the OFF-Biennale that formed in opposition to the populist Orbán’s regime. Using grotesque humor it acted out against a mood of political and civic frustration and passivity in order to celebrate freedom of expression. The Curfew informed the current exhibition on display in the Artwall Gallery. It takes inspiration from the tradition of bouffons – monstrous clowns whose deformed figures mock the functioning of our society. Juxtaposed onto urban surfaces these figures are storyboards for a possible street theater act in Prague, an act that confronts the normalisation of militancy, aggression and toxic masculinity.
