Neoavantgarde artist Peter Bartoš was employed at the Bratislava Zoo as a conceptual artist between 1979 and 1991. At the same time, he worked for a state-owned building company Stavoproject, where he was a landscape designer for the zoo. His job consisted of consulting with zoologists and subsequently designing the environments for the zoo’s animals as well as preparing the landscaping projects for the zoopark. Bartoš’s unique concept for the zoo area was only partially implemented, and today it is for the most part covered over by layers resulting from later operations.
